Aileron Positioning System
The installation of the electric aileron
servo calls for the creation of a bracket to hold the Ray Allen aileron trim
motor.
Our initial installation looked as follows:
However, after we installed the wings and
hooked up the ailerons, we determined that our bracket was inadequate.
It was simply not rigid enough. When the motor was operated the bracket
would twist.
In the next photo, you can see the
modification we made. The original bracket was removed.
The original pivot for the servo was a piece of black delrin (in the picture to
the left).
We replaced the black delrin with a white piece which no longer requires a
bracket to hold it in.
Using four 8/32 screws, we threaded the white delrin to hold the piece in place
thru the ribs.
Installation and removal is easy, but more importantly, the flex is gone.
The delrin came from www.woodcraft.com. They sold us a whole bag for $12.
